Knowing which feed plan is right for you can be challenging. Here is a rough guide based on averages and some back-of-the-envelope maths to get you close.
Pay-per-month Feeds plans are subject to 1 main billing metric - the Update. An update is each time a feed or activity is updated.
Updates are incremented for each activity added, plus the fan-out to each following feed. For example, if FeedAlpha has 10 feeds following it, when an activity is added to FeedAlpha, that's one update, plus the fan-out to the 10 followers adds 10 more updates, for a total of 11 updates.
To calculate an estimate, you multiply 3 things together:
- Monthly active users
- The average number of new activities per user per month
- The average number of follows per user.
For example, if your app has 10,000 MAU, each user posts about twice a week and each user is following 25 people/topics: Monthly Updates = (10,000)*(8)(*25) = 2,000,000.
